This is a quick and relaxed car, well capable of fast and long-legged European touring, and having a range of around 500 miles despite its near-supercar performance and two-tonne kerb weight. It's around 20cm shorter than the saloons and the driver sits higher for better visibility, so you get an impression of agility. The standard SQ5 uses a 6cyl twin-turbo diesel engine that develops 309bhp and sends that power to all four wheels using Audi's famed quattro four-wheel drive system. From behind the wheel, you get the sense that this car is trying hard to hide its sporting potential, and the same could be said of its exterior styling, a couple of subtle S badges, large 21-inch alloy wheels and a slightly extended rear spoiler are the differences – as well as the trademark silver mirrors.
